'No Alarm' Following Me in the Pasture |
I had no expectations about her. As a matter of fact, I had bought her sight unseen. I had met her mom and her sister but I had completely forgotten to meet her before I signed the paperwork. Sometimes you just have this spiritual prompting that leads you to move through something without much planning. It's like sitting down in a raft and trusting the water slide will guide you to the bottom without knowing the twists and turns it might take. In this case, it was like waking up in the morning without any plans as a magnificently joyful day unfolded before me.
When I walked into the pasture to meet her for the first time, No Alarm was walking toward us. As she approached it finally dawned on me, I was going to have a new horse. Although I bought her for breeding, a flood of other possibilities flashed before me: shows, schooling, trial rides, and synchronized riding. No Alarm walked right up to me and introduced herself. I loved on her and we were hooked. She followed me around the pasture as I talked about the horses in the herd with the rancher. I tried to take her picture but she kept walking up to me too close to get her in the frame. She is such a sweetheart and the first time she nuzzled her nose under my arm I was overwhelmed with JOY!
I have to say that No Alarm, my new filly's registered name, is not a name conducive to yelling out in the pasture, "No Alarm." I am thinking my sweet little joy definitely needs a nickname.
May every step you take be like a No Alarm day following the promptings of the Holy Spirit and letting God's Joy unfold before you.
