We have often debated over the need to assemble with believers. I mean afterall God is everywhere and if you are a believer then you can worship God anywhere so why worry about whether you go to church on Sunday morning or fellowship with other believers during the week. Often we defend church attendance by Paul's word in the new testament to come together to encourage each other and of course to follow the commandment to observe the Sabbath and make it Holy. Holy means to set something apart and Sabbath means to cease from work or labor.
Today in my readinmg of the word in Deuteronomy 33 a few passages stood out that seem to add weight to the blessing and priviledge to assemble with other believers. I'll just share them here as they are written and you can ponder them.
"The Lord became king in Israel-- when the leaders of the people assembled, when the tribes of Israel gathered as one." Deut 33:5
"Bring them together as a people. Give them strength to defend their cause; help them against their enemies." Deut 33:7
"Indeed he loves his people; all his holy ones are in his hands. They follow in his steps and accept his teachings." Deut 33: 3
